Aventon Ebike Water Resistance

Aventon hubdrive ebikes are built to the IPX4 water-resistant standard.

IPX4 means that your bike is resistant to water splashes from any direction which means it is okay to ride or park your ebike in the rain. It won’t be harmed by spray from a wet road or raindrops. Your ebike is not intended to be submerged or subjected to a pressurized spray. Don’t use a pressure washer or sprayer to clean your ebike. Best practice for washing your ebike is the bucket and sponge method.

Ramblas

When looking at both the Ramblas manual and website specs, you may notice two different water ratings. Please note only the motor is IP67 rated (IPX7 is the closest equivalent), but the bike as a whole is not. The waterproof rating of the whole bike cannot be written as IP67, as IP67 is only for the motor. The waterproof rating of a component cannot cover the whole bike, it is for this reason that the whole bike as a unit is classified as IPX4.

Regardless of the water rating of Aventon Ebikes, they are not meant to be stored outside in the elements long term. All electric bikes should ideally be stored under a shelter that consists of a garage or shed.
