The built in bike lock can be operated using the bike's attached display or using the Aventon app.
-If your bike uses a center stand, like the Abound, the electric lock can be engaged once the kickstand is lowered, preventing the bike from being rolled on both wheels.
-If your bike uses a side kickstand, the electric lock engages the rear hub and prevents the rear wheel from rolling.
The process of engaging and disengaging the built in bike lock is the same process for any compatible model.
1. Press and hold the center power button to power on the bike.
2. Hold down the + and - buttons simultaneously to reach the settings menu.; as shown below
3. Scroll down, press the center button to select the bike lock page.
4.Then press the center button again to engage the bike lock, as shown below. If the bike lock is not engaged, the "open lock" icon will be displayed. Once selected, it will then display the "locked" icon.
5.a. For center stand bikes, put down the kickstand before engaging the lock. While engaged, the bike cannot be taken off the center stand and the wheel will remain elevated.
5.b. For hub lock bikes, tilt the bike onto the kickstand to ensure the rear wheel cannot turn, verifying that the E-wheel lock is engaged; as shown in the figure below
6.Once the bike lock is engaged, follow the same steps 1-5 to disengage the lock. Always carefully roll the bike forward to ensure the lock has disengaged before attempting to ride.
